    I also had my visa interview on 27-DEC-2007 @Mumbai (h1-b/h-4 renewal) and was told that I will receive an email in 2 business days, subsequent to which I will have to go to VSF office for getting my visa stamped.

    Its been 6 business days and am yet to receive an email..I contacted VSF in Mumbai and they told me that all the H1-B applicants are in the same boat and they could not predict any time line...Planning to call the US-consulate tomorrow to see if they can provide some timeline..I already have rescheduled my return flight to US...If things continue this bad, am planning to use my AP to travel back to the US.

    In response to Saralayar's idea, I strongly believe it is a great idea but I have some details I don't understand. Would Saralayar tell me more about that????????

    1) whether citizenship is granted to people who have met all 5 conditions or any 2-3
    conditions out of 5???????

    2) I do believe the last 2 conditions can be met by most of the foreign students but for
    #3) condition "if they have paid the tax continously for 10 years", I wonder how can this
    happen unless the foreign student who has worked in US for 10 years. I heard H-1b
    workers maximum have 6 years plus 1 year extra for extension total add up to 7 years.
    So how can have 10 years tax paid????

    I wonder whether only students with years of US working experience (which means
    years in full time study plus years of working experience) up to 10 years is counted

    Look around you will see.... not everybody is the same.
    I personally know many who had been "working in H1B" for more than 14 years.
    Not everybody gives more weightage for their "immigration plan" than some personal and career interests. If you are really truthful to USCIS about your intentions, and you keep doing what you want to do with your career and life, it is in-fact very possible that you will be found without a GC even after 10 years working in USA, if your are from India.

    An approved I-140 doesnt make you "automatically" qualified for an I-485. You dont file 485, if you dont "intent" to continue with that specific employment, even after I-140 approval.

    7Years???? No..... you can extend your H1 beyond 6 years as many times as you want if you meet some conditions as per AC21. So it is possible for you to be in H1B for 100 years.

    10years tax payed???? Yes because of the other reasons I mentioned. Also I know many who are still in que after 14 years paying taxes.

    if she applied for H1B the first package the lawyer sumitted should have copies of her I-20 and EAD. Look through the package you may find a copy in it.

    i think the card was mailed directly to us
    not sure the University would have a copy
    wondering if the employer would have kept one this long...

    VO doesnt keep your passport if a via not issued at the time of the interview . He gives it back after the interview. Once you receive the email , you have to go the VFS office and then had in the passport.

    It really is amazing how much hot air has been generated on this thread over a well established transit visa requirement.

    The list of nationals that are required to have a visa to transit the UK represents a list of countries where there has been a particular problem with over stayers. It is not race based, but merely an effort to target the problem.


    Do you seriously think the people from all the countries listed overstayed ?



    It really does not matter what anyone thinks about the transit visa requirement because it is UK law. Everyone has a choice whether or not to transit the UK. Going back to the original post, to book a ticket without researching visa requirements and then trying to deflect personal responsibility by blaming the visa requirement is ridiculous.

    The whole point of the thread is to discuss how people are treated there and merits or otherwise in choosing this place as a transit point.
    Do you see any one demanding or representing your queen to abolish this TV requirement ? If you had followed the thread most people are suggesting to avoid this place rather than to fight them. Don't you get that point ?

    How is charging different amounts for the same kind of visa and refusing to correct the mistake OP's personal responsibility ?

    (Travel Plans in the next 3 months, Moving Plans in the next 6 months, Contact Information, Passport and I-94 info, Employment Hisotry - Last 5 years+ Last job ouside US, Residence History - Last 5 years + last residence outside US, LC, I-140, EAD and details, and a few other questions, etc)
    2. Passport copies- all pages, current, all old.
    3. All I-20, I-94, I-797, LC, I-140 copies
    4. Birth Certificates or Birth Affidavits
    5. Marriage Certificate or Marriage Affidavits -
    6. Sealed Medical Exam Cover - I-693
    7. 6 photos for adults ( 4 if under 14)
    8. Photocopy of current I-94
    9. Divorce Certificate (if applicable)

    My lawyer said that I can travel after filling 485, but at the same time the form he sent asks my travel plan for next 3 month. Do you know why they want to know that detail?

    Jan 1 1970. Before that you can submit affidavits.
    I didn't submit non-availabilty to attorney. Last time in Sep 2005, I was about to file I-485, they didn't ask. Not sure, if the Non-Availability thing came up after Oct 2005.

    My father tried to get a Non Availability certificate but they told since the birth is registered they can't issue one and that they also won't change the name...:mad: (after the incident where that MP tried to sneak people into Canada they are very strict it seems)

    Right. We are already here and working . How will we displace any American worker if we get the Green Card?

    How will I displace an American worker if I get a green card sooner? I am already here and already doing a job that DOL certified no other American is willing qualified or able to do!! :D
